She replaces Betsy Singer, who left in July to take a job as an educator at Faith Christian School in Rochester. Vivien Williams, an anchor who left in 1999, filled the position until the full-time anchor was chosen.
Wick is a graduate of Saint Cloud State University with a major in Mass Communications and Broadcasting.
Wick joined the KTTC-TV NewsCenter as a morning news producer in June of 2006 and was later promoted to the anchor of the KTTC Weekend newscasts. She was prominent part of the station’s coverage of the Summer Floods of 2007 and the collapse of the 35-W bridge in Minneapolis. Most recently, Wick led the team to development and introduction of a new newscast which airs Sundays at 5 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to have Rachel on our team in an expanded role, one that she has earned and deserves and one that we envision her having for a long time,” said KTTC-TV Vice-President and General Manager Jerry Watson in a statement this morning.
The station is owned by Quincy Newspapers Inc.
