Visa issues may have prevented Amy Winehouse from attending the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night, but logistical red tape and her ongoing personal turmoil couldn't keep the troubled singer from sweeping the ceremony and delivering the night's best performance (albeit via satellite).
The beehived soul songstress took home five trophies, including the best new artist award, beating Canadian crooner Feist, who came up empty-handed in all four of the categories in which she was nominated. Winehouse also won best female pop vocal performance, best pop vocal album for Back to Black and record of the year for "Rehab." Accepting the latter trophy via satellite, the stunned and emotional Winehouse kept her arm around her mother as she thanked her jailed husband, calling him "my Blake incarcerated."
The night's other big winner was nomination leader Kanye West, who took home four awards for best rap album, best rap solo performance for "Stronger," and best rap performance for "Southside" with Common and best rap/sung collaboration for "Good Life" with T-Pain.

West's performance, which began as a black-lit dance riot with Daft Punk, closed with a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Donda, who passed away of heart failure and complications from plastic surgery in November.
Both West and Winehouse lost out on the night's biggest category, album of the year, which was nabbed by surprise winner Herbie Hancock for River: The Joni Letters.
