Maine Caucuses Today Amid Heavy Snow- Read Below
RG is off caucusing for Obama, while I'm relegated to watching the snowfall--I've made him promise to remember all the good stuff and provide details when he returns home. Because he's a man and won't remember the good stuff--like who said what and who all was there and who started out for Hillary and Obama--I've also had my tennis partner promise to call once she's home to fill in the important bits. I'll update with actual caucus coverage later today.
The Maine Sunday Telegram had front page coverage of both candidates' events yesterday.
The Washington Post believes women will deliver Maine for Hillary, as they did NH. That may prove true, but Kay in Maine notes the HUGE anti-war sentiment in Maine and rightly so. Hillary's vote on Iraq should prove more troublesome to her here than in other places. Mainers are also very practical and most of my friends (as do I) believe that Obama stands a better chance of beating McCain in the general election....therefore, they will caucus for Obama, regardless of their very favorable feelings about Hillary.
Edie in Maine blogs about yesterday's campaign events.
PolitikerME with notes on Bangor's caucus....1,000 attendees so far. News reports indicate that Democratic absentee ballots outnumber all the votes cast for Republicans in Maine last weekend. The Maine Democratic party is energized and getting out the vote.
