Keith Wells Chooses The Bucks

Keith Wells Chooses The Bucks - Read Below

Ohio State has continued its hot streak on the 2008 recruiting trail by securing a commitment from one of the top rush ends in the entire nation when Keith Wells made it public that he would indeed be signing with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

Keith Wells, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end from Gainesville High in Ga., was considering Ohio State strongly before making a verbal commitment to the Florida State Seminoles, but after some contemplation he decided it would be a good idea to take a look in to some of his other options.

At first he remained a public commitment to the “Noles” but after official visits to Ohio State and Auburn he eliminated FSU from his list completely. Since that time he has taken official visits to Tennessee and Notre Dame.

The final three schools for the Georgia rush end ended up being Ohio State, Tennessee, and Notre Dame. The Irish and the Volunteers had a lot to offer but in the end he just felt the most comfortable with Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes.

There were many players who had a great time on their official visits, but Wells admitted that the time he spent on campus at Ohio State was tremendous, and it was most likely that weekend when he knew that he would ultimately make the switch from FSU.

He enjoyed a lot about the official, but it was the time that he got to spend with head coach Jim Tressel on his in-home that really sealed the deal.

“Going out with the players and getting to sit down and talk with coach Tressel,” Wells said of the visit to Columbus.

“Coach Tressel is a nice guy. We talk about everything. He told us what he needed to do to be successful at Ohio State. He felt like I could come in and be something special.”

Wells is one of the more intriguing prospects in the class with the way his body type has completely changed over the last year and he could project at a few positions on defense. Wells can be physical at the line of scrimmage as a defensive end to stand up his blocker or he can be quick enough to simply get around him.

As a senior, Wells racked up 75 tackles and seven sacks.
